PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

What is PRP?

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is a product made from platelets taken from your blood. Platelets are known for their role in clotting blood, but research shows they also contain a rich source of proteins called growth factors. These growth factors in the platelets stimulate new cell growth to aid in wound healing and the replacement of damaged or diseased tissues.

PRP injections are also helpful for accelerating healing in tissues damaged by surgeries. PRP is a popular and effective treatment for sports injuries, and many professional athletes use PRP therapy.

Because the harvested platelets are from a patient's blood, there is no rejection reaction. The platelets produce a concentrated dose of growth factors that your provider at A&M Wellness Centre can inject back into your body. There, the growth factors get to work boosting your body's natural healing abilities.
